DIRECT ACCESS CHALLENGES

Our Pay and Personnel Center team members are users of Direct Access –just like you– and are similarly impacted by challenges with the system.  Though the Pay and Personnel Center does not own or control repairs to Direct Access, we continue to advocate with the Program Office to prioritize repairs and the C5I Service Center to conduct those repairs.  We appreciate your patience and grace during this time period.

In essence, Direct Access is our ship . . . and our ship is damaged and undergoing depot-level repairs.  The crew at the Pay and Personnel Center are just as eager for Direct Access to come back to fully mission capable, so we can better serve our Coast Guard families.

RETIRED PAY

At present, for temporary, permanent, VA offset, AEW’s, CRDP, and CRSC disability, we are encountering a processing delay due to systematic issues and a shortage of personnel. You remain our primary concern. We want to assure you that we are fully committed to resolving these issues promptly and handling your cases with utmost proficiency.

Joint Travel Regulations Update to Temporary Lodging Expense (TLE) - Flag Voice 556

PRINT  |  E-MAIL

Colleagues, I am pleased to announce a revision to the Temporary Lodging Expense (TLE) authorization in the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR).  With Coast Guard support of the requested change, this approved revision allows for expedited review of a Service’s request to increase TLE for up to 60 days due to the severe housing shortage brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.  This JTR change, however, is not retroactive for expenses incurred prior to 25 August 2021.

This change is not a blanket approval to increase all TLE to 60 days; it is intended to target those CONUS areas where the housing market is significantly stressed by the pandemic.  This JTR change will allow Commanding Officers/Officers in Charge that are aware of severe housing shortages in their area of responsibility to work with the respective Local Housing Office to complete a TLE Data Request form and submit it to the Office of Military Personnel Policy (CG-133).  After a completed TLE extension request is received by CG-133, the request will be validated and transmitted to the Per Diem, Travel, and Transportation Allowance Committee for final consideration and approval/disapproval.

To help guide your subordinate commands through this process, you will soon see:

1. An ALCOAST providing the specific steps to request the TLE Extension. (309/21)
2. An informational MyCG article on the update to the JTR.

Although we are well into this PCS season, I ask you to work with all members to support their PCS efforts and help them understand this new revision to the JTR.  I’m sure there will be questions, and if so, please direct them to HQS-DG-LST-CG-1332-TRAVEL@uscg.mil.  Thank you for your leadership in another challenging transfer season.
