Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC)
External Accreditation Program:
All Coast Guard clinics must be accredited in order to provide health care services to our members. The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) conducts the accreditation surveys for all Coast Guard clinics. Upon a successful survey, clinics are awarded a three year certification of an accredited facility having met all requirements as outlined in the Accreditation Handbook.
The accreditation certificate is a symbol that the clinic is committed to providing high-quality health care and that it has demonstrated that commitment by measuring up to the high standards of the Coast Guard Medical Quality Assurance/Improvement program and the AAAHC standards.
Re-accreditation
In order to avoid a lapse in accreditation status, Coast Guard clinics must undergo full, regular surveys at least once every three years. An Application for Survey for the subsequent full accreditation survey (referred to as a reaccreditation survey) must be completed. Upon receipt of the application, the AAAHC will contact the clinic administrator to establish survey dates. To prevent a lapse in accreditation, please ensure that all documentation is submitted to the AAAHC at least five months prior to expiration date.
