Emergency Medical Services

The primary mission of the Coast Guard Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Program is the preservation of life and the provision of emergency medical care.  EMS provides out-of-hospital acute care and transport to definitive care, for patients with illnesses and injuries that constitute a medical emergency with support of highly trained professionals including volunteer and career prehospital personnel, physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, therapists, administrators, and government officials.

The U.S. Department of Defense is committed to making its electronic and information technologies accessible to individuals with disabilities in accordance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (29 U.S.C. 794d), as amended in 1998. DoD websites use the WCAG 2.0 AA accessibility standard.
