Is the Coast Guard working on expanding access to the Coast Guard network?

Yes. CGCYBER and the C4ITSC are working on several initiatives to establish network bandwidth and Remote Access capabilities to support the increased demand. However, if you aren’t able to log in, Outlook Web Access (OWA) is a good option. OWA has less capability than VDI or VPN, but will let you access your Coast Guard email, calendar, and tasks.

Should I auto-forward my desk phone?

When you forward your desk phone, a single phone call consumes two VOIP phone lines which further congest the CG One Network. Please use Out of Office or Skype “status” messages to provide alternate contact numbers, or check your voicemail frequently.

What should I do if I’m teleworking and can’t get into VDI?

CGCYBER and CG-6 are expanding Remote Access capabilities to support the greater demand. If you are unable to access the Coast Guard Network (CGN) from VDI it is likely that the system is operating at maximum capacity. Consider other options that will allow you to continue teleworking. VDI uses a relatively large amount of bandwidth relative to all
