DEERS (Defense Eligibility Enrollment Reporting System) Project Office

Mission:

DEERS maintains personnel and benefits information for:

  • Active, retired and reserve uniformed service personnel

  • Eligible family members of active, retired and reserve uniformed service personnel

  • DoD civil service personnel

The Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) is the definitive data source for identity information and is used to verify an individual’s identity; affiliation with the DoD; and eligibility for benefits, privileges, and entitlements.

DEERS is also responsible for producing DoD ID Cards (RAPIDS and Common Access Cards). DEERS enables DoD e-business, including identity management, and reduces fraud and abuse of government benefits and supports force health protection and medical readiness.

ATTENTION ACTIVE DUTY AND RESERVE MEMBERS:

Active Duty and Reserve Service Members should check their DEERS information via MilConnect or by visiting their nearest DEERS field office. Once they have done so and discover there is a discrepancy in their DEERS personnel category, the member MUST report the discrepancy to their Service Personnel Office (SPO). The SPO is responsible for tracking the information in Direct Access to ensure it was entered accurately and in a timely manner. After the SPO has researched the member’s issue in Direct Access, made the necessary corrections, and allowed sufficient time for the transaction to process to DEERS with no success, the SPO must then report the DEERS discrepancy to the USCG DEERS/RAPIDS Project Officer via EMAIL providing the details below:

  • Member’s first, middle initial, and last name
  • SSN & EMPLID
  • Brief description of the discrepancy
  • Provide Direct Access screenshot to show when the SPO approved the transaction
  • Provide supporting documentation (i.e. contracts, orders, signed copy of DD214, etc.)

DMDC’S ONLINE USID CARD RENEWAL PILOT

As of February 24, 2023, Defense Manpower Data Center’s (DMDC) Online USID Card Renewal Pilot partnership with the Government Publishing Office (GPO) has gone to production and is available for USID cardholders to request online renewal of currently-active USID cards.

Approved requests will result in the cardholder's new card being mailed directly to them.

DMDC is "soft-launching" the pilot to work out any bugs or issues in the process before they make wider announcements. In the meantime, they’ve provided details, including a one-page reference and Frequently Asked Questions, online at:  https://www.cac.mil/Next-Generation-Uniformed-Services-ID-Card/Renewing-Online/

The option to select online renewal should now be available to sponsors who login to ID Card Office Online (IDCO) with their CAC.

Requirements/Eligibility

  • Sponsor must be a CAC holder and requesting a renewal of an active USID card
  • Sponsor and Cardholder must have email addresses listed in DEERS that they have authorized DoD to use for contacting them
    • Authorization for contact can be made on the IDCO website under "My Profile"
  • Sponsor’s personnel status must extend at least 30 days in the future from the renewal request date
  • Cardholder has a photo saved in DEERS taken in the last 12 years
  • Cardholder’s mailing address is present in DEERS and is in the United States
