The Base Detachment St. Louis and Base New Orleans Retiree Council and Help Desk are fully operational. These committees were formed to ensure internal and external communication and also to help the Base and its personnel. From mentoring to problem solving, they will strive to make a difference and have membership be a valued added to themselves and the command. This includes an outreach program for retirees who are unable to travel, allowing mobile retirees to make social calls just to tell sea stories and provide companionship.

Base Detachment St. Louis and Base New Orleans are responsible for the retirees throughout the entire 26 state 8th District.

 Help Desk is manned 24/7 for retirees who have any questions.
