USCG Base Kodiak Housing Office

Welcome to Coast Guard Base Kodiak Housing! We oversee the housing program for USCG personnel permanently assigned to Kodiak, Homer, Cordova, Valdez, Seward, Anchorage, and Dutch Harbor in the beautiful state of Alaska.

Housing Assignments
Housing unit assignments are based solely on family size and are in accordance with the CG Housing Manual, COMDTINST M11101.13G.

Base Kodiak strives to maintain the Coast Guard standard of 95% minimum occupancy level in each of our housing sites. Therefore, all eligible personnel reporting to our area of responsibility should expect to be assigned to Government Housing.

Upon receiving your housing assignment, we will forward you your tentative address with a floor plan and pictures similar to your unit to help you prepare for your new residence.

*Please note, there may be circumstances that require us to make adjustments to unit slating. In these circumstances you will be contacted directly by the Housing Office, with your updated unit and floorplan.

Temporary Lodging & Temporary Lodging Allowance
Coast Guard Base Kodiak offers temporary lodging at the Guest House.

Reservations for the Guest House can be made by calling 907-487-5446 x2351.

Temporary Lodging Allowance (TLA)

TLA is intended to partially compensate a service member for higher than normal expenses incurred by a service member or dependents while occupying temporary lodging OCONUS.

If you have questions regarding TLA, they can be answered via your Unit Admin or the Base Kodiak Transportation Office.

Base Kodiak Housing is comprised of 360+ family housing units in four separate housing areas. In addition to family housing we offer 3 styles of Unaccompanied Personnel Housing (UPH) units. Below you will find descriptions and photographs of all Base Kodiak Housing areas and units.

Aviation Hill
Aviation Hill is located just outside of the CG Base and is comprised of 120+ units ranging from 2-4 bedrooms. This neighborhood boasts 3 parks, a basketball court, and is an access point to one of Kodiaks most beloved trails, Old Woman.

Lake Louise
Lake Louise is conveniently located 3 miles from the CG Base and is comprised of 85+ units ranging from 2-4 bedrooms. This neighborhood boasts 2 parks, 2 basketball courts, and is within walking distance to Nemetz Park & Gazebo, where you can enjoy amazing mountain views and wildlife.

Lower Government
Lower Government is located on the CG Base and is comprised of 75+ housing units ranging from 2-4 bedrooms. This neighborhood offers 3 large parks, a large soccer field, basketball court, and skate park. Its convenient location provides easy access to Jewel Beach, Coast Guard Exchange, Chapel, Teen Center, Child Development Center and many of the great amenities Base Kodiak has to offer.

Upper Government
Upper Government is located on the CG Base and is comprised of 90+ units ranging from 2-4 bedrooms. This neighborhood offers 2 parks, 2 basketball courts, and easy access to Peterson Elementary School. Many units offer beautiful views of Buskin Beach, Chiniak Bay and Barometer Mountain.

Kodiak Unaccompanied Personnel Housing Information
Base Kodiak offers 3 styles of Unaccompanied Personnel Housing (UPH). Our UPH units are located on Base Kodiak and in close proximity to our Galley, Movie Theater, Pizza Parlor, Gym, pool, and Base MWR as well as the commissary.

Cordova Housing Area Information
Cordova Housing is conveniently located 3 minutes from the town, 5 minutes from the CGC Fir, and 12 miles from AVSUPFAC. It is comprised of 24 family units that range from 3-4 bedrooms, 2 Converted UPH units with 4 bedrooms each, and 2 UPLH units that are located just outside of town. There are two playgrounds, one of the parks is covered for year-round use.

The view from CG Housing is breathtaking. Within moments of your arrival, you will find yourself lost in the beauties of Cordova and the Copper River Delta, which will quickly show you why Cordova is known as "Alaska's Hidden Gem.”

Homer Housing Area Information
The Homer Housing complex is centrally located in the town of Homer, AK. Housing is only 6 miles from the CGC Aspen and CGC Naushon, and only 1/2 mile from the MSD office. Homer Housing is a small knit community with 14 family housing units, 4 Converted UPH units with 3 bedrooms each. There are twelve 3-bedroom units and two 4-bedroom units, each unit is equipped with a heated garage. Homer housing has a playground and large recreation area fire pit.

The town of Homer is known as the Halibut Capital of the World. There is also great salmon fishing in the Kachemak Bay, you’re going to love it here!

Valdez Housing Area Information
Valdez Housing consists of 28 family units, ranging from 2-4 bedrooms. Each unit has a storage unit and two heated garages spaces. There is a Community Center on site, Fitness Center, and breathtaking mountain views.

As the Nation's northernmost ice-free port, Valdez is often referred to as “Little Switzerland” due to the city’s surrounding mountains and glaciers.
