Becoming an Advocate

The purpose of victim advocacy is to provide victims of sexual assault with someone who can provide information and emotional support necessary to help guide them through a multitude of obstacles following their incident.

 

Volunteer Victim Advocates are essential components of the Sexual Assault Prevention, Response, and Recovery (SAPRR) program.  Victim Advocates may be the first to respond to a victim of sexual assault and are often the victim’s greatest resource for ensuring that their needs are met, advocating for their rights and coordinating necessary services. They work to empower victims and assist them in making the transition from victim to survivor. 

 

Victim Advocates can be a military member who possesses essential characteristics of maturity and compassion required to provide support to others while maintaining a relationship based on integrity and selflessness.

We welcome prospective volunteers from diverse backgrounds and experience and hope you will consider joining our team.

  • Are you able to attend 4 days of training?
  • Are you able to complete 32 hours of continuing education every 2 years?
  • Do you have a strong desire to serve others?
