WATERWAYS OPERATIONS PRODUCT LINE (WOPL)

Guiding the Mariner, Protecting the Waterways

The U.S. Coast Guard Waterways Operations Product (WOPL) supports short range aids to navigation and marine environmental response programs.  This includes the design, development, testing, evaluation, procurement, and maintenance of a vast array of equipment used in these program areas: buoys and mooring hardware, on and off shore structures, light and sound signal systems, and oil/chemical spill containment/recovery equipment.

Mission

The Waterways Operations Product Line (WOPL) supports the Aids to Navigation (ATON) and Marine Environmental Response (MER) missions by providing engineering solutions, systems acquisition, configuration management, production and delivery, logistics and maintenance, and technical policy guidance for the Coast Guard-wide inventory of ATON and MER equipment and systems. This support encompasses the entire lifecycle of ATON and MER equipment and systems, from acquisition through disposal.

Vision

The (SILC) Waterways Operations Product Line (WOPL) serves as the focal point for implementing engineering and logistics solutions for the Aids to Navigation (ATON) and Marine Environmental Response (MER) enterprise that enhance the mission while reducing total ownership cost.
