2017 Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS)
Flag Voice #474

The Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS) is expected to launch on 11 May 2017. The survey will be sent to a representative sample of the civilian workforce. In previous FEVS, the Coast Guard routinely had one of the highest participation rates in DHS. Last year the response rate was 52.4 percent. The survey was sent to 7,000 of our 8,500 plus civilian employees. We have routinely used emails, Advisory Notices from Civilian Human Resources (ANCHRs), ALCOAST, and other written communications to strongly encourage our civilian employees to participate in this survey. While we will continue to use these tools, I would ask each of you during your engagements with the workforce to express the importance of taking the survey. As you hold all hands, visit units with civilian employees, we ask that you encourage them to take the 2017 FEVS Survey. We also ask that you encourage your supervisors to do similar acts of engagement in order to continually promote employee participation. We have attached a flyer that promotes participation, and on the flip side provides information you can use to communicate several initiatives that resulted from our FEVS feedback.& Engaging with your civilian workforce directly will be more effective than any written communications.

Our civilian employees are vital to the Coast Guard mission and an integral part of our family. The FEVS is one way for them to express their concerns. Again, I encourage all senior leaders to promote employee participation. With your help we can maintain a positive response rate and more importantly, receive vital feedback that will help make the Coast Guard an employer of choice for our civilian workforce. The 2017 FEVS will begin on 11 May and will be open through 22 June 2017. Thank you for your support in this effort.
