DHS Detail Opportunities provides employees the chance to experience our diverse mission areas through hands on assignments. A detail is temporary assignment of an employee to a different position for a specified period, with the employee returning to his or her regular duties at the end of the detail. All of the Detail Opportunities are listed here (Accessible only through Coast Guard workstations).

The Joint Duty Program is a human capital program initiative, managed by OCHCO at DHS headquarters. The Joint Duty Program’s purpose is to encourage and facilitate assignments of DHS personnel to other DHS components as well as outside agencies. The program covers DHS employees at the GS-13 through GS-15 grade levels and equivalent. The DHS HSRP is a professional development program designed to engage and strengthen DHS workforce. Through the HSRP, employees may participate in cross-Component rotational assignments and government-wide joint rotational assignments. The DHS Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program (SES CDP) is designed to develop the talents and skills of individuals with executive potential. The DHS SES CDP prepares high-performing GS-14/15 (or equivalent) individuals for positions in the Department’s Senior Executive Service through an intensive 12-18 month leadership development program.  To learn more, click here.
