The Office of Naval Engineering (CG-45) ensures that safe, reliable, and properly configured cutters and boats are available to meet Coast Guard mission requirements.  The office establishes program objectives and policy, and advocates for the resources (funding and personnel) to properly operate and maintain all new and in-service surface assets.  In addition, the Office of Naval Engineering provides oversight for the Surface Forces Logistic Center (SFLC), which includes the Coast Guard Yard.

The Office of Naval Engineering is divided into the following three divisions:
