The USCG cloud environment must serve mission owners and partners across the range of mission operations of air, land, and sea, from the tactical edge to core systems, and at all classification levels. We must deploy technology solutions that enable our workforce in their operating environment, often the state of which can be denied, disrupted, intermittent or limited connectivity. Such a challenge is directly relevant to mission success and rapid decision timelines at the tactical edge.

The federal "cloud smart" strategy provides practical implementation guidance for government missions to fully actualize the promise and potential of cloud-based technologies. Implementation of a USCG cloud smart strategy rests on the capable shoulders of our people. We will continuously invest in the upskilling of the USCG workforce to meet our strategic cloud needs. Existing staff will be trained with new skills and knowledge to keep pace with the ever-evolving technology tools and techniques. Additionally, key talent for cybersecurity, acquisition, and cloud engineering from both mission partners and solution providers may be required for the successful rollout of USCG cloud strategy. Training and recruitment to ensure the right tools are in the hands of the right people at the right time will ensure USCG is mission ready.
