The Coast Guard’s In-Service Vessel Sustainment (ISVS) Program is nearing completion of a class-wide upgrade to the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems on the service’s 140-foot bay-class icebreaking tugs. The HVAC upgrade on Coast Guard Cutter Mobile Bay was completed May 24 – days ahead of schedule – in the cutter’s homeport of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. Mobile Bay is the eighth of nine 140-foot icebreaking tugs to undergo this work. Upgrades on the ninth and final cutter will begin this summer.  The ISVS Program restores mission readiness, improves reliability and reduces maintenance costs of the service’s legacy cutter fleet.
