Coast Guard members prepare to fly COVID-19 vaccines along the West Coast from Alameda, California, using a C-27J Spartan aircraft Feb. 18, 2021. The vaccines were administered to front-line and essential Coast Guard employees. The C-27J Spartan delivered the vaccine to Coast Guard personnel in Los Angeles, San Diego and Seattle; air transportation is necessary because Base Alameda is the only Coast Guard base on the West Coast capable of storing the vaccine at its required temperature. The HC-27J Asset Project Office at Elizabeth City, North Carolina, is also supporting Coast Guard COVID-19 vaccination efforts. A C-27J flew a case of COVD-19 vaccine vials along with six medical personnel to Wilmington, North Carolina, to administer vaccinations to Coast Guard personnel Feb. 26. U.S. Coast Guard photo.
