About the Course

This three-day, enlisted leadership continuum course is designed to provide consistent leadership and supervisory training to apprentice-level personnel prior to advancement to E-4. This course is specifically intended to assist member growth from individual contributor to an apprentice supervisor in the role of a Petty Officer. The Apprentice Leadership Program is taught during the course of instruction at all of the Coast Guard’s “A” Schools except Public Affairs Specialist (PA).


Training Objectives

This course provides E-2 through E-4 personnel a foundation in several leadership framework competencies specific to leading self and leading others. Course objectives are accomplished through facilitated group discussion, exercises and role play scenarios. At the end of the training, students must successfully complete a role play scenario, which is designed to test their overall knowledge of leadership techniques as an apprentice-level petty officer.

  • Effective Communications
  • Team Building and Team Dynamics
  • Conflict Resolution
