DHS Mentoring Program
The Department offers a number of formal and informal mentoring programs in all components and across all occupational functions. The DHS Mentoring Programs are formal programs that provide enriching experiences through reciprocal relationships and opportunities for personal and professional growth while sharing knowledge, leveraging skills and cultivating talent. The programs provide a series of developmental experiences for matched mentoring pairs. Through the mentoring relationship, mentors have the opportunity to guide and share experiences, knowledge, and skills that will contribute to the mentee’s growth. Mentoring relationships require time, commitment, and clear plans of action.

DHS Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program (SES CDP)
Designed to develop the talents and skills of individuals with executive potential in order to create a cadre of candidates who can assume senior management positions at the SES level as vacancies occur. Candidates who successfully complete the program and receive certification of their executive qualifications by an Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Review Board (QRB) under the criterion of 5 U.S.C. 3393(c)(2)(B), will be eligible for initial noncompetitive appointment to the SES. Target audience: high-performing GS14/15 (or equivalent)

This certificate course is designed to help educate and prepare enlisted leaders assigned to Joint organizations or those going to Joint assignments. Excellence in Government and e-Government Fellows Programs
The Excellence in Government Fellows and e-Government Fellows programs are proven, recognized initiatives focused on building strong public-sector leadership and management, driven by innovation and focused on results. Over the course of a year, during which Fellows remain in their full-time jobs, the programs concentrate on achieving results and delivering powerful lessons about leadership. Target audience: GS 14-15, O5-6 leaders seeking to solve national challenges by driving innovation, inspiring employees, and delivering results (exceptional GS-13s are also encouraged to apply).
Executive Leadership Program (500916)
The Executive Leader Program, conducted by the Graduate School, USA, provides leadership and managerial training and development opportunities for employees who have a high potential to be a future federal manager. Target audience: GS 11-13, Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) NF 4-5 members who are not supervisors or are new supervisors with less than one year of supervisory experience, and equivalent wage grade levels (WG and WL 10-15).
Executive Potential Program (500915)
The program challenges its participants to step outside their comfort level, to sample new environments and to stretch, grow, contribute and make a difference. The program is based on the Office of Personnel Management's Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs) and the Graduate School, USDA's Leadership Effectiveness Inventory (LEI). Target audience: GS 13-15 and equivalent wage grade levels (WS 14-18 and WL 14)
Gateway (National Defense University)
GATEWAY reinforces joint perspectives while preparing select E-7s for enhanced joint leadership opportunities at the operational level. This course fulfills a resident EJPME continuum gap that presently exists between the distance learning courses, Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education (EJPME) I/II, and KEYSTONE. This course will allow mid-grade Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) and Chief Petty Officers (CPOs) the opportunity to elevate their tactical and operational leadership experience in a joint learning environment. Keystone (100188)
The Keystone Course will educate Command Senior Enlisted Leaders (CSELs) and provide them the opportunity to visit and receive briefings at the National Defense University, the DJS J7 Joint Coalition Warfighting Joint Operation Module (JOM) in Suffolk, VA, and several Combatant Commands and Joint Task Forces. Target audience: E-9s currently serving in or slated to serve in a general or flag officer level joint headquarters or service headquarters that could be assigned as a joint task force.
